What Jane App does well.
Jane App is a clean, modern, multi-disciplinary EHR popular across Canada and rapidly growing in the US mental health market. It covers scheduling, charting, billing, telehealth, online booking, and patient intake — built for multi-clinician practices that want a polished, opinionated tool.
What it doesn't cover.
Jane is excellent at the operational side but does not include validated clinical assessments, longitudinal outcome tracking, severity-band interpretation, or measurement-based care dashboards. Its charting is free-text and template-driven; the data layer for systematic outcome tracking lives outside the product.
What Theracharts adds.
Six capabilities Theracharts brings that Jane App doesn't ship in the box.
Validated assessment library
120+ instruments across 13 clinical categories — what Jane doesn't ship out of the box.
Longitudinal outcome tracking
Trend charts that show treatment response over weeks or months, not just point-in-time captures.
Clinical updates pasteable into Jane charts
Generate a data-grounded narrative; paste into Jane's chart entry as your measured-data section.
Client portal
Clients complete forms on their phone. Reminders. Submissions sync when they're online.
Clinical referral system
ROI consent workflow + tokenized provider links — for when you need to refer outside Jane.
Genogram creator
Family mapping for clinicians doing family/relational work, which Jane doesn't include.
How they work together.
No API, no migration. The therapist is the integration point — by design.
In Jane App
Book appointments, run video sessions, chart, invoice clients, track payments — the operational layer of your practice.
In Theracharts
Assign assessments to clients. They complete on their phone. Scores appear on your dashboard with trends, severity bands, and alerts.
Together
Paste clinical updates from Theracharts into Jane chart entries. Your Jane chart becomes data-grounded without changing how Jane works.
Frequently asked.
Will Theracharts conflict with how Jane handles charting?
No — they don't overlap. Jane is the chart of record. Theracharts produces text that you choose to include in Jane charts. You stay in control of what goes where.
Does Theracharts work in Canada?
Yes. Theracharts is HIPAA-compliant (US framework) with all infrastructure on US-based vendors with signed BAAs. Canadian therapists using Jane can use Theracharts; whether your provincial privacy framework (PHIPA, PIPA, etc.) considers that acceptable is a determination you make with your regulatory body.
Can I use Theracharts for the multi-disciplinary care Jane is built for?
Theracharts is designed specifically for mental health (psychotherapy, social work, counseling psychology, MFT, supervision). For non-mental-health disciplines Jane supports (PT, chiro, acupuncture, etc.), Theracharts won't be the right fit — its assessments and workflow are mental-health specific.
How does the workflow handle Jane's invoicing/billing?
Theracharts doesn't touch billing. Jane handles all of it — invoices, insurance, payments. Theracharts is invisible to your billing workflow.
Is the data flow secure?
No automatic data flow exists between Theracharts and Jane. The therapist is the deliberate integration point — every clinical update transferred is a manual copy/paste action you initiate.
